Hello

I feel I should provide some explanation as to why the ramblings of a first time father have made their way on to the Internet in what is likely to come across as a chaotic and haphazard manner .

The truth is that it wasn’t my intention to publish anything on the Internet and instead I was planning to create little newsletter style documents that could be used by the two NICUs my daughters have been cared for in. However, after a few people have read the collective content of the first 3 posts, the feedback I received was that I should share it with a wider audience in case it has the ability to help even just one other parent, whether they are a father or a mother, who has their baby in a neonatal intensive care unit.

As I’ve already stated, this is not intended to be a diary of mine or my daughters’ lives. Instead I intend to speak more generally around the challenges and scenarios my wife and I have encountered since the birth of our daughters and how we dealt with them. I’ll admit that we dealt with somethings badly, but with hindsight we recognised this and hope that our mistakes can help make your journey through NICU just a little bit easier.

If nothing else, I am hoping that having an outlet will help me to process this experience and come out the other side stronger than when I went in.
